this broken heart
Nakkura continued to look at her, his violet gaze shifting from her face, to the ground, and to his paws before they flickered back again. He twisted his head so that he could reach his ear again before nodding. "Of course you don't," he said simply. His words weren't mean or nasty, yet held no other emotion. His broken heart pounded in his ears, giving him a terrible headache.
"But I will live," he continued, his oversized fang glinting in the sunlight. "It's not like I've suffered as much as you." His expression odd and muddled, yet without much feeling, he turned away abruptly and padded out of the camp.

She stared at his back, watching him walk away. Soon, Sonya sighed and turned away as well, retreating to the shade of the fallen logs. She turned a reproachful eye to the periwinkle firmament, watching the shifting cumulous clouds dance in the wind.
"We've all suffered," She said to no wolf in particular. And perhaps it was herself she spoke to, herself she was attempting to comfort and force back the emotions lured by the conversation. "We'll all survive...it's a part of life...and we must have that will... the will to survive." She murmured, squeezing her eyes shut and ducking under the log that was her den.
The arctic she-wolf shuddered inwardly, turning her dull serpentine eyes to watch the distant shape of Nakkura. She shook her head and wondered to herself if her words were true. She wanted it to end...she wanted the pain to stop...sometimes, she even wanted to die. But she lived...and perhaps only Lupus knows why.
